Turmeric Oats on the Stove
To keep you cozy this week, make a batch of oatmeal to warm you from the inside out.
I adapted this recipe from The Kind Diet to add a few more spices and protein.
Quick Turmeric Oats on the Stove
- 1 cup rolled oats (GF available)
- 2/3 cup of your favourite nuts (I used unsalted almonds and cashews)
- 1/2 cup chopped dates
- Half an apple, chopped
- 1 tbsp. honey (or agave, if vegan!)
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ginger
- 1/4 tsp. turmeric
- 3 tbsp. hemp hearts
Simply put the oats, nuts, dates, apple, honey, cinnamon, ginger and turmeric in a pot. Add water until the oats are covered and place on stove. Heat until water is absorbed then top with hemp hearts and a dollop of homemade plum compote (that is, if you have a jar from your MIL you haven't used up, like me!)
